Dollar Spot

Smaller and more numerous than brown patch, dollar spot creates silver-dollar-sized, straw-colored patches across the lawn. It thrives in the same warm-day, cool-night humidity swings we get in spring and early fall, and it’s often a sign that your lawn is under-fertilized on top of being humidity-stressed.

Both diseases spread fastest in lawns that are mowed too short, overwatered, or struggling with poor airflow — all fixable issues.

Why Newport News Yards Are Especially Vulnerable

5. Aerate to fight compaction. Compacted clay soil holds moisture right at the surface. Aeration opens it up so water and air can actually move through.
